Microcosmic Orbit(小周天)is a meditation technique to circulate the qi-energy within your body with deep breathing and visualization of the flow of light.

Here are simple steps on how to practice the Microcosmic Orbit Meditation.

1. Sit in a quiet room, either in lotus position or on a chair, keeping a straight spine. Still the body, calm the mind, regulate the breath.

2. Gently close your eyes and turn your attention within.

3. Visualize a ball of energy in your abdomen - a golden light that is pure, clear, and bright.

4. Guide the energy ball of light down to the perineum (the area between the anus and the scrotum for men or vulva for women, then to the coccyx (tail bone, or base of the spine).

5. Let the qi-energy pass through the 9 apertures of the coccyx like a snake weaving through them, then raise it up to where the ribs meet the spine, then up to the Jade Pillow (the base of the brain on the back side of your head).

6. Bring the qi-energy to the center of the brain 'Nirvana chamber', take in the energy of the true spirit from the heavens through the top of your head.

7. Press the tongue against the palate (roof of the inner mouth), tilt your head up to hold the energy at the Nirvana chamber.

8. Guide the qi-energy from the center of the brain to the 3rd eye.

9. Bring qi-energy down through the throat to the heart. Bathe the internal organs in this qi-energy to complete the full cycle of the qi-energy flow.

10. Repeat the steps with one breath per one cycle.
→ Exhale as you raise the energy upward from the base of the spine to the center of the brain
→ Inhale as you bring the qi-energy downward

Regular practice of 30-45 minutes, 1 or 2 times per day will strengthen your qi level and purify the physical, mental, and spiritual of your body. Do not practice too much, or it will exhaust the body and mind.

In our busy modern lifestyle, even just 3 minutes of meditation will benefit us greatly. Find your own pace that you can feel comfortable and suitable.
